Classy Hangzhou Food @ The Landis Taipei

Today's welcome luncheon, which was hosted at The Landis Hotel's Tien Hsiang Lo, consisted of a variety of Hangzhou style food. The atmosphere was elegant with a classic twist to make an enjoyable eating experience.

The first dish we tasted was Sauteed Shrimps with Long-Ching Tea Leaves with a dash of Zhen jiang vinegar. "The dish, while looks simple, surprises the eater with a high-class taste," says a fellow group member, Eric. It must have been the violation of the expectation of something simpler than what we got.

Next we had Madame Sung's Fish soup, a dish with a traditional Chinese story that has 800 years of history. For more information, please go to the following link: http://www.taipeitimes.com/News/feat/archives/2001/09/28/104872/print

No traditional Hangzhou history would be complete without mention of the famous poet, Su Dong Puo. Thus, when thinking of any traditional Hangzhou meal, the delicious dish Dong Puo Rou undoubtedly pops into our mind. We were not surprised by the amazing presentation (we were not deterred by the fact that it is basically 50% fat...) and taste (which was appealing to the taste buds).

Overall, we were pleased with the standard of food of our opening luncheon.

P.S. Awesome doorman with a tophat!
